Symbolic Flight

Beyond The Moving Map...

3.0 is not yet released. A total rewrite, it embodies everything we learned from the current version and a great deal more we imagined and makes it all much simpler as well as ten times faster--meaning 3.0 works snappily on older machines such as the LS800. The AOPA link happened before we were ready, so we plead patience--the trial version you download only hints at what 3.0 can do. All owners of Symbolic Flight will be upgraded to 3.0 when it releases at no charge.

We have a release candidate. Working on video tutorials and last of the documentation.

I think I could fly the RNP RW19 DCA, or RNP RW06 Juneau in my sleep. Waypoint cycling is now precise--within a split second of Garmin.

Performance: 3.0 runs on any Windows machine with 800x600 resolution or better that will run Google Earth at no more than 85% cpu usage. That means 1.1GHz Atom based netbooks now work. So does Q1U, and Motion Computing LS800 (for all you VistaNav owners who feel abandoned).

3.0 now supports FSX directly.
--That means you can see your FSX flight in Google Earth.
--No other software needed. No Franson, no Dowson, no Eltima--saving you about $150.
--When you fly in FSX, Symbolic Flight will behave as if it were in the simulator aircraft.
--Train in FSX
--Practice approaches in FSX
--Then take Symbolic Flight Flying and do it exactly the same way in real life.

3.0 now supports all Garmin Gps's directly.
--save flight plans to your Garmin.
--import flight plans from your Garmin
--use the Garmin as your Gps in-flight
--tested with 696 and others to follow. we expect this to work on all the x95 and x96 devices.
--Symbolic Flight waypoints become Garmin user waypoints--meaning you data are always current, even if the Garmin data is out of date.

3.0 saves Google Earth cache with the flight plan.
--after you do the PreFly Tour, saving the flight plan also saves the cached imagery and terrain.
--You can carry the flight plan AND the imagery from one computer to another.
--if the flight plan cache was saved it will automatically load when you load the flight plan.
--You do this once for a given flight plan and it will always be ready when you fly that route.
--That means you only have to be connected to the internet once, when you prefly the first time.

We were looking at an end of year release date....and that clearly did not happen. Just finished the new manual. Testing and defining patent issues. Considering IMU options.

Download the trial edition and you'll see what we do. Yes: photorealistic satellite imagery overlaid up-on 3D geospatial data--though you can always look straight down and turn on the sectionals and see a moving. map, if you like

Presently we sell Software and bluetooth gps's. We recommend Hardware--read the blog post about putting together a system

Paul,

OK...it does more by far....what is compete package cost and where is ti on the site..or do I put it together myself...next question:...so I can use it in place of an AV8OR....and it also provides a synthetic vision flight quality instead of a 2-D flat surface effect?

It would be 'mooning the giant' to say yes. Let's just say that regular users one day abandon their Garmins and AV8ORs because they are..well...a generation behind.
