3.0 is not yet released. A total rewrite, it embodies everything we learned from the current version and a great deal more we imagined and makes it all much simpler as well as ten times faster--meaning 3.0 works snappily on older machines such as the LS800. Peter Russell Gouws Australian users

Hi Paul and everyone else... I have a Garmin GPSmap60CSX and will have to acquire display hardware (HP/iPad etc) when the time comes to be able to compare, as a laptop is a bit bulky for the cockpit...1) Can I use the Garmin for positioning and 2) Since most of the weather/3D/airspace data etc is limited to USA (the main problem with nearly all flight products) and as such is almost useless 'abroad'. Paul Mace Some Holiday Notes...

3.0 is in heavy testing at the moment. The biggest obstacle to release is actually paperwork: manual, patent filings. The next biggest is Garmin support. Two things of interest right now: we do a fair amount of our testing with Microsoft Flight Simulator X. You can do the same thing using Peter Dowson's FSUIPC and Johan Franson's GpsGate. Dror Shannon New Windows 7 PC Operating System supported?

Is there yet a version of this product that can run under the new Windows 7 OS? Paul Mace Symbolic Flight Bag 0911 is available for subscribers--includes European Airspace

On the box.net download site. EU airspace is now included. It is not entirely current--some is; some is 2006. This data was a project of the late Michael Meier and is an ongoing effort hosted at welt2000.de I've made the look and feel consistent with US and Canadian airspace depictions. Jim origin and destination

Paul, It looks like the crossing altitudes are ignored if only the origin and destinations airports are entered. (i.e. never reaches cruising altitude without intermediate waypoints) during the pre-fly option. It also seems a little weird having the plane gradually and constantly increase altitude to a waypoint to only reach the crossing altitude when it reaches that intermediate waypoint. (during pre-fly) I was going to try and establish the climb rate and manually place one or two waypoints… Continue

Jim Aim Point measurement

Paul, One thing I noticed about the aim point distance (to terrain) was that the aim point follows the presets (i.e. eagle eye view) So when the preset to FL100 above the current altitude is selected, the aim point follows as well. This is ok as long as the pilot keeps the perspective that the aim point is fictitious in respect to the actual aim point which remains at the current gps altitude. Bruce Andrews Basic newbie questions

Paul, Still unable to post anything on the support forum so I'll try posting it here on the blog. As you stated in your help section, if one is not going to have an internet connection while flying then it is necessary to pre-fly the route in order to cache the data. When one pre-flys the route should one do a tour using the relatively quick "pre-fly tour" in MyPlaces or should the tour be done using "flightpath"? Touring using FlightPath goes much slower and I would presume would be caching h… Continue

Jim XRX

Paul, I purchased a different serial to usb interface . Now the computer can see the information if I select profile 2. The newest software allows 3 selections: profile 1, profile 2, Garmin, and of course none (off) I did see the list fill in a contact one time with the profile 2 selected but now it just sends a series of numbers into the info box ( i.e. 115.0.0.0.0.115.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.115) over and over again. Paul Mace 1.66 GHz Atoms are the baseline netbook.

Let me be be clear: anything less than an Atom N27X, 1.66 GHz machine is below the lower limit for Symbolic Flight 2.x version. 1.1GHZ Atom-based machines are completely unacceptable--see my comments on putting together a system.
