What you see is what you will see out the window, only augmented and enhanced graphically with landmarks, roads and runways, things that are hard to see until it's too late, such as obstacles, weather, and other airplanes, as well as things you can't see at all, such as regulated airspace. Watch the video and you'll get an idea of what we mean, though we've added many features that make it still simpler to just type in waypoints.[PC-only at present]. And now we've added Sectional and Terminal Area Charts for the entire US.
.

The New Flight Plan button now pops up a text box with the following instructions: Type in WayPoints, one to a line.
Use an Airport Identifier such as S03 or KSQL, or Navaid Identifier such as RBL, or waypoint name such as VPWAM, or all (or part) of the Common Name such as Pilot Rock or San Fran. You may also add the crossing altitude, separated by a comma. S03 Pilot Rock, 6500 RBL, 9500 Livermore, 4500 VPWAM, 1500 KSQL, 1500 San Fran
Or you can paste the text in if you have it elsewhere SF will process the list. If there are multiple matches you'll get the selection dialog you've already seen. If it cannot find the waypoint, it will tell you and skip it--you can then add it in the usual manner with +WayPt.

Symbolic Flight lets you Go Fly with Portable Synthetic Vision. It supports Bluetooth, wireless GPS and adds touchscreen-oriented design to Google Earth so you can take Symbolic Flight Data flying [ Now supports Zaon XRX PCAS. See traffic in 3D!]..
What you see on the computer screen as you fly is better than what you see on paper charts, or moving map GPS, or even out the window. And you don't need an internet connection while you fly--the imagery and data are all cached on your computer.
Add the Inertial Motion Unit [IMU] and you'll get pitch and roll--a full synthetic vision system starting at $699 using your own computer. Upgrade to our true sunlight readable touchscreen and control the display with one finger--no typing or mousing around.Or get a ready-to-fly system for $1999. We invite you to compare that to the $8000 Honeywell product, or the $60,000 and up Chelton and Garmin offerings, none of which offer satellite imagery.[PC-only at present]

Symbolic Flight Data for Google Earth Adds 3D airspace information to Google Earth. Every 28 days we receive the NACO data and convert it to three-dimensional representation in .KML format for Google Earth. Airspace, airports, runaways, navaids, waypoints and obstacles become clearly visible. We've recently begun adding global information, now including airport, navaid and waypoint data for the entire earth, with 3D airspace depictions soon to arrive. To see what we're talking about, download and install free data for the Klamath Falls Sectional.[PC and Mac]

Symbolic Flight Manual 2.50x.pdf
Symbolic Flight lets you Flight Plan and Pre-Fly in Google Earth Windows and has been tested on Windows Netbooks, UMPCs, laptops and desktops running both Vista and XP. If the Machine is less than 4 years old, it is probably adequate--the limiting factor is typically the graphics card. Try Google Earth. If it runs without seeming jerky or slow, FlightPlan will work as well. At worst you may not be able to turn on all the airspace data at once.
Symbolic Flight Data is $29 for a one year subscription: 13 issues.
Symbolic Flight is $89 and includes a 1 year data subscription.
.
Quick Introduction:.
Waypoints are placed in the Google Earth Places | Flight Plan folder. Any form of placemark from Google Earth can be used--you aren't restricted to using airports or navaids. But, when you do use Airports, FlightPlan understands and fetches the ICAO call sign, making additional runways and weather information available. The easiest method for creating Waypoints is to right-click the symbol in GoogleEarth and selecting 'Copy', then select the Flight Plan item your want it below and right-click 'Paste'. You can rearrange Placemarks within the FlightPlan folder by dragging and dropping or right-click cut and paste.
Then File | Save | Save MyPlaces in GE and click the get MyPlaces button in FlightPlan.
Selecting Origin and Destination allows you to plan all or any part of the sequence, forwards or backwards, without rearranging placemarks.

.
The SymFlight Planning Controls allow you to maneuver in Google Earth without first mastering the mouse and keyboard. You can adjust the direction you are looking, the altitude and look-down the angle, without altering your position.
The Origin and Destination pulldowns show the same list as the contents of the Google Earth Places | Flight Plan folder.

Here, we selected to fly from Medford to Billings.
FlightPlan fetches the winds aloft for each waypoint and fills out all the information for waypoints along our route and calculating distances and leg times based on projected groundspeed.
Selecting Medford causes the KMFR weather to be fetched.

FlightPlan also draws our route in Google Earth.

Selecting Billings causes the weather for KBIL to be fetched and translated into English
Next we check the TFRs

Then we check NOTAMS for a 20 mile swath along our route of flight.

Finally we are ready to PreFly.
FlightPlan moves us along our planned route at the selected altitude. Notice the lighting? Look at the 'time' slider in the upper right corner of the image. Our plan departure time was Dec 9 at 3:53 PM local and this is what it will look like above KMFR facing east along our route of flight at that date and time.
As we move, the time advances according to our planned airspeed and so does the lighting, corrected for the season.

Go Fly:Bluetooth GPS provides Google Earth with position, altitude, speed in flight! What you see is the same as what you see out the window, only enhanced: Satellite Imagery 3D terrain Airspace, Navaids, Obstacles Airports, Runways Pilot-contributed waypoints, NEXRAD*, Weather...You need: Windows laptop or UMPC. [*Inflight NEXRAD requires 3G modem and service.] Now supports Zaon XRX PCAS!
Google Earth is free.
Combines GPS and National Airspace Data with Google Earth. Lets your eye pick out the important places as easily as if you were a local pilot everywhere you fly:
See the power tower marked and accurately drawn above the terrain.
See the top of the Class D airspace marked with its altitude.
See the airport ahead and runway thresholds clearly marked.
See exactly what you will see out the window, but unmistakably enhanced to create true awareness of where you are in relation to the earth, the national airspace and your destination.
Flights are recorded and may be played back in real-time or fast forward. Pilot-contributed waypoints letTag local reporting points and share them with other NavAware users--imagine all pilots knew what you were talking about when you reported “over the Tank Farm”.
Moving World supports wireless bluetooth GPS that let you take it flying and get beyond the moving map.. It is available for Google Earth Windows and has been tested on Windows Netbooks, UMPCs, laptops and desktops running both Vista and XP. If the Machine is less than 4 years old, it is probably adequate--the limiting factor is typically the graphics card. Try Google Earth. If it runs without seeming jerky or slow, FlightPlan will work as well. At worst you may not be able to turn on all the airspace data at once.
